This is one of the most interesting books I have read in a long time. Chris Anderson former editor for Wired and The Economist has tapped into some trends in the “Maker Movement” beyond the cool and geeky stuff being produced, with 3D printers.
Much of what is happening in these circles is having an impact on manufacturing today, some of the change is gradual but for some, like Sony, it’s a startling revelation.
“What the web has taught us was the power of “networked effects”: when you connect people and ideas, they grow.”
Trivial, inconsequential you say! Jobs and Wozniak started in the “Homebrew Computer Club”, “Cube” is revolutionizing the payment industry and Visa, Amex, and many others are paying close attention.
